A forest fire declared in the Sierra de Orihuela, near the Montepinar urbanization, mobilized firefighters overnight, achieving favorable control of the situation despite difficult access and the impossibility of using aerial means.

The fire started in the Cruz de la Muela area, at the beginning of the ascent, and the alert was received at 10:17 PM. From that moment, personnel from the Provincial Fire Consortium of Alicante and forest firefighters deployed an operation focused exclusively on ground extinction, as darkness prevented the intervention of aerial resources.
The work of the ground teams has been crucial, as the affected area presents complicated access. Despite these difficulties, the evolution of the work throughout the night has been very favorable. According to the information provided, only one unit of forest firefighters is currently still working on site to complete the extinction tasks.
To reinforce the ground operation, personnel from the Orihuela and Almoradí fire stations were mobilized, in addition to the forest units. The operation involved two command and headquarters units, one heavy urban pump, one heavy forest pump, one heavy rural pump, and a personnel transport van. An officer, a sub-officer, a sergeant, two corporals, and eight firefighters were also deployed.
