The blaze erupted around 7:20 PM on Tuesday, generating a large plume of smoke that alarmed residents in the Playa del Cura area and kept the road closed to traffic. Flames and smoke were visible from the street, emanating from the balcony and affecting the building's facade, particularly the second floor.
Torrevieja fire department received the alert at 7:33 PM and worked to extinguish the fire, preventing its spread to other homes and common areas. A strong smell of smoke permeated the city center, reaching as far as La Mata.
Six firefighters, a sergeant, and a corporal, along with two pump trucks, were dispatched to the scene. Additionally, several patrols from the Civil Guard and Local Police, as well as a SAMU unit, responded, though the latter did not initially need to intervene.
This incident occurred just four days after another fire last Friday affected four homes in the Ramón Gallud and María Parodi area. The rapid dissemination of images on social media without additional information caused alarm, with unconfirmed rumors of people trapped inside the building.
