The incident was reported by the victim, a 46-year-old man, who went to the police station in Orihuela. He explained that he had been a victim of an intimidation robbery by an acquaintance from the city.
According to information provided by the National Police, the arrested individual was identified and apprehended within hours of the incident, following initial investigations by the officers in charge of the case.
The assault occurred when the victim was at an ATM performing a transaction. At that moment, the alleged perpetrator approached him, hit him in the chest, and demanded all the money he had, while brandishing a small pistol and a small knife.
The victim initially refused to hand over the money. Faced with this refusal, the alleged perpetrator drove him to his home with the intention of completing the robbery.
Once at the residence, according to the account given to the officers, the arrested individual managed to take the victim's money and continued to intimidate him for more. It was then that the man found an opportunity to escape. The victim told the alleged assailant that he had to go back to the ATM to withdraw more money and used that moment to leave the scene and go to the National Police station, where he reported what had happened.
During the report, the victim explained to the officers that the same individual had assaulted him in a similar manner the previous month. On that occasion, he stated, he did not file a complaint for fear of retaliation. This information allowed investigators to frame the case within a sequence of events that, according to the victim's testimony, would not have been limited solely to the assault now reported.
