The Civil Guard has arrested a 26-year-old man in Callosa de Segura as the alleged perpetrator of an intentional fire that destroyed several vehicles and affected two homes, endangering the lives of their occupants, including an elderly person and minors.

The investigation, part of Operation Urente, has clarified several incidents in the town. The detainee is accused of crimes including arson endangering people, property damage, assault, threats with a firearm, illegal possession of weapons, and robbery with violence and intimidation.
The fire started on May 11 and affected several vehicles and two homes with people inside. The situation posed a serious risk to the trapped residents due to the smoke.
Civil Guard specialists determined the fire was intentional. Following investigations, officers identified the alleged perpetrator, an individual with a criminal record, and a search operation was launched.
Days later, on May 25, a report was received about a man threatening neighbors with a firearm and two dogs, which attacked several people. Civil Guard and Local Police patrols initiated a special operation for his arrest.
Cornered, the man fled into the hills with his dogs. He was eventually intercepted and arrested. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault using attack-trained dogs.
The detainee has been handed over to judicial authorities and remanded in custody.
