The Castellón Provincial Council will urge the Spanish Government to immediately reactivate the works on the N-232 and reinforce pending road infrastructures in the province, through a motion to be debated in the ordinary plenary session this Tuesday.

The provincial initiative demands the resumption and completion of the N-232 section between Masía de la Torreta and Morella Sur. It is required that the already awarded project be fully executed as soon as possible. The institution considers this route strategic for the connection between northern Spain and the Mediterranean coast, as well as a key infrastructure for mobility and economic development in inland Castellón.

"This road is fundamental for the province. The paralysis of works that, as recalled, began last year but have been suspended in 2026 without a public explanation for the reasons, generates uncertainty, compromises user safety, and hinders the economic development of the area, impacting sectors such as tourism and transport, especially relevant for Morella, its region, and the province as a whole."

The motion is not limited to the N-232. The text also calls for progress on other road infrastructures considered priorities for Castellón, such as the improvement of the A-7 inland and the promotion of the connection between Vilanova d'Alcolea and La Jana. This route, approximately 48 kilometers long, has an estimated investment of 349.7 million euros.
Furthermore, the Provincial Council will demand the execution of improvement works between the N-340 Valencia-Castellón at the junction with the N-225, as well as the immediate execution of the N-232 underpass through Sant Jordi, a historical demand of the municipality. These demands are joined by the request to execute the pending accesses to the AP-7 in the province, especially in Benicàssim, Vila-real, and Vinaròs, with the aim of improving connectivity and responding to the needs of the territory.
The provincial government insists that improving communications is essential to foster economic development, create jobs, and help retain population in the territory, especially in inland regions. With this motion, the Provincial Council seeks to increase institutional pressure on the central Executive to specify deadlines and activate investments in a road network it considers decisive for the cohesion and competitiveness of the province.
