The Provincial Council of Castellón supports the eighteenth edition of the Gabriel Puig Roda International Watercolor Competition in Vinaròs, a consolidated cultural event that promotes artistic talent and revitalizes the local economy.

The competition, organized by the Amics de Vinaròs Cultural Association, has become a national benchmark in the field of watercolor. A spokesperson for the Provincial Council highlighted the importance of such initiatives for both artistic promotion and local development.

"Initiatives like this promote talent, boost the local economy, and allow us to value what we have."

The same spokesperson thanked the association for its dedication in organizing a competition that was born in 2009 with the aim of consolidating itself as a key event in the province's cultural calendar, and which today is one of the most prestigious in its category nationwide.
Since its inception, the competition has maintained a trajectory linked to artistic excellence and the promotion of watercolor, a technique characterized by transparency, light, and precision. Throughout its editions, the award has recognized numerous artists and has strengthened the cultural projection of Vinaròs and the province.
This edition maintains two selection phases. The first will be online and will allow a maximum of 20 works to be chosen. Afterwards, the selected artists must physically send their works to the association for jury evaluation.
The verdict will be announced during The Night of Culture, which this year will be held on Friday, November 27. The winning watercolor will receive a prize of 3,000 euros and a bronze statuette designed by the sculptor José Córdoba.
Works can be submitted online until September 30. Selected artists will have until October 31 to send their finalist work. During the month of November, the entity's exhibition hall will host the exhibition with the finalist works, where the jury's evaluation will take place, and there will also be a public vote.
