The detainees, caught in the act in a commercial establishment's parking lot, employed a system that prevented vehicles from locking properly without the owners realizing it. This method allowed them quick access to the interior to steal valuable items.
The investigation reveals that both individuals acted in a coordinated manner in parking lots and commercial areas with a high concentration of vehicles. One facilitated the approach without raising suspicion, while the other manipulated the locking systems with devices that inhibited the remote control signal.
The arrest took place on April 10, following an investigation initiated after a theft committed on April 1, in which items valued at approximately 1,600 euros were stolen. An off-duty Civil Guard agent was crucial to the operation, as he recognized the suspects and alerted his colleagues, initiating discreet surveillance.
The agent observed them repeating the same criminal pattern in a parking lot, even gaining access to a vehicle after neutralizing its locking system. Faced with the evidence, he managed to detain the suspects until the arrival of a patrol, which proceeded with their arrest.
Subsequently, it was confirmed that one of the arrested individuals had an active judicial warrant issued by a court in Seville, ordering his search and arrest. The proceedings have been forwarded to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Vinaròs, which has taken charge of the case. The operation was carried out by agents from the Main Post of the Civil Guard of Benicarló.
