This action, carried out by the public company Egevasa, will ensure drinking water service both during summer months and in periods of water scarcity. The vice-president of the Provincial Council and head of Egevasa, highlighted that the project will improve the quality of service in the municipalities of Bufali, Montaverner, El Palomar, and the industrial estate of Atzeneta.
Works on the high-system reservoir in Atzeneta have an estimated execution period of six months. The work has not interrupted the supply at any time, as Egevasa operators have installed a bypass that supplies drinking water to the populations while the reservoir is emptied for repair, modernization of facilities, and adaptation to current technical and sanitary regulations.
“"Drinking water is an essential service for people and also for industry and the productive process."
The emergency repair of the Atzeneta reservoir is an example of the need for public institutions to offer exceptional measures in situations affecting basic services. The actions have been coordinated by the Provincial Council, through the Water Cycle service and Egevasa, in collaboration with the town councils and the commonwealth to comply with the requirements of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation.
The manager of Egevasa detailed that, once the reservoir is emptied, structural rehabilitation of the tank will proceed, cleaning corroded reinforcements and regenerating the concrete. The project includes interior waterproofing and joint sealing to ensure the complete closure of the reservoir, as well as the installation of ventilation systems and the modernization of the well with a high-energy efficiency pump.
