This program, which had not been convened for eight years, aims to restore towers, palaces, walls, and other historical buildings that are part of the identity of the province's towns. The funding line will cover 100% of the costs and will advance 75% of the aid upon award to facilitate the immediate start of works.
“"We know that interventions in BIC and BLR are complex, but we are motivated by the challenges that transform our towns."
The Vice President and Head of Municipal Cooperation, Natàlia Enguix, emphasized the technical and administrative complexity of acting on Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC) and Assets of Local Relevance (BLR). These protection figures require rigorous and costly projects that many local councils cannot undertake alone. Enguix highlighted that the main difference of this call is that it funds 100% of the actions, which represents a clear commitment to municipal autonomy.
The Vice President added that they do not want any project of special relevance to be shelved due to lack of resources, as a town's heritage cannot depend on its economic capacity, but on its historical value and the right of its residents to preserve it. Furthermore, she framed this investment within the fight against depopulation, considering that recovering these heritage elements allows municipalities to add new attractions and generate both activity and future.
Among the projects to be carried out, highlights include the rehabilitation of the Palace of the Bellvis in Benissuera (950,000 euros), the recovery of the walls connecting the towers of Castielfabib castle (512,000 euros), the rehabilitation of the Torre del Virrey in L'Eliana (623,000 euros), and the consolidation of the Palace of the Counts Orbe and Piniés in Quartell (500,000 euros). Interventions will also take place at the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara in Xàtiva and the Palace of the Lordship in Alfara del Patriarca, both with a contribution of one million euros.
By region, La Vall d'Albaida will receive 2.2 million euros for historical buildings in towns such as Aielo de Malferit, Bellús, Llutxent, La Pobla del Duc, and Benissuera. El Camp de Túria will see actions in Benisanó, Olocau, Serra, and L'Eliana for 1.4 million, and L'Horta, with a joint allocation of 1.4 million for Vinalesa, Albalat dels Sorells, Alfara del Patriarca, and Beniparrell.
“"When a tower collapses or a cloister closes its doors, it is a cry for help. It is the history of our province asking not to be forgotten."
The President of the Valencia Provincial Council, Vicent Mompó, recalled that the plan responds to eight years in which Valencian heritage has been outside the priorities. He explained that the program seeks to achieve territorial justice, helping the smallest municipalities, and to streamline processing. Mompó announced that the Provincial Council is working to expand the plan's economic endowment with an additional 5 million euros, to materialize all proposals.
