The Ontinyent City Council has presented today the new municipal shared electric bicycle service, Ontibici, which features 57 new bikes and 27 stations distributed throughout the city.

Sustainable mobility in Ontinyent receives a boost with the launch of the restructured municipal shared electric bicycle service, Ontibici. This system, completely renovated and modernized by the City Council together with the new awarded company, Cooltra, brings back a green transport alternative for citizens. In the first five hours of operation, the service already registered over 70 uses, highlighting the interest of the capital of La Vall d’Albaida in ecological transition.
The new Ontibici substantially improves the features of the previous stage. The fleet expands from 50 to 57 active electric bicycles, with an additional 10 reserve units. The number of stations increases from 24 to 27 pick-up points strategically distributed throughout the urban area. Furthermore, the system combines physical electric charging stations with virtual parking stations, offering greater flexibility.

"Today we are relaunching Ontibici with completely new bikes and more stations; we have opted for a very simple and intuitive system."

Jorge Rodríguez · Mayor of Ontinyent
The Mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, has encouraged residents to download the mobile application to rediscover this mode of transport. For her part, the Councilor for Sustainability, Sayo Gandia, has emphasized the municipality's pride in green policies, highlighting that Ontinyent is committed to being one of the few Spanish cities with a fully electric rental bike system.
The service has been completely digitized through an app available for Android and iPhone. From this platform, users can locate vehicles, check the station map, unlock the bicycle, and return it. Ontibici will operate every day of the week, from 06:00 to 23:59. The rates are competitive, with an annual general subscription costing 15 euros.
