Ontinyent's new hospital will begin operations on June 1st, following an investment of 72.9 million euros by the Generalitat Valenciana.

The Ministry of Health has initiated the transfer of materials and equipment from the old health center to the new hospital, an operation expected to last several days. The opening of the new healthcare center, planned seven years ago, is considered imminent.
With a built area of 27,000 square meters, the new hospital is almost four times larger than the current one, which had 7,000 m². This expansion will allow for a doubling of care capacity and will feature 80 hospitalization beds, distributed across 48 single rooms and 32 double rooms. The total investment has been 72.9 million euros, creating 137 new healthcare personnel positions.
Among the new units to be incorporated are those for Resuscitation and Critical Care, Day Surgery, Emergency Observation, Mental Health, Brain Injury, Pathological Anatomy, and a clean room. Additionally, it will have five operating rooms, two delivery rooms, and a cafeteria service. The Radiodiagnostic area will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including conventional radiology, ultrasound, MRI, CT scanner, digital mammography, and remote control. Clinical analysis, biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, and pathological anatomy laboratories have also been equipped.
The old hospital will remain operational for low-complexity patients, with a capacity of eighteen beds. The Ministry of Health is also studying the comprehensive rehabilitation of the old building to house long-term and chronic patient care in the future.
To attract professionals and meet staffing needs, the Ministry has designated the Xàtiva-Ontinyent health department as an area of difficult coverage. Consequently, 27 out of the 902 positions announced in the first merit-based competition for difficult-to-staff areas have already been allocated to Ontinyent Hospital.
