“"Public healthcare is fundamental for the progress and well-being of society, and public administrations have an obligation to ensure a quality service. Unfortunately, this is not the reality in current Valencian public healthcare, with service cuts, lack of public investment, and the outsourcing of tests and operations to private healthcare."

The municipal group Compromís per Ontinyent has presented a motion to the April plenary session, demanding a specific timeline from the Valencian Generalitat for the opening of the new hospital and the improvement of healthcare services in the town.
The spokesperson for Compromís, Nico Calabuig, emphasized that the current situation of public healthcare in Valencia and the unfulfilled promises regarding the opening of the Ontinyent hospital are a collective outcry. Therefore, the group believes the city council must take a stand and demand urgent action from the Generalitat.
The motion, registered by Calabuig, calls for a concrete and binding timeline for the definitive opening of the new hospital, as well as detailed information on efforts to ensure a complete provision of staff, services, and resources. It also seeks information on the interruption of the operating room service and the urgent correction of deficiencies in the GVA +Salud application.
The spokesperson explained that the constant delays in the opening of the new hospital, which has accumulated three years of unfulfilled promises, are causing significant social and professional unrest. The motion aims to ensure that the new infrastructure opens with all necessary services, resources, and staff, preventing it from being an empty structure.
Finally, Compromís proposes that the city council consolidate the demands of the social fabric, healthcare personnel, and the municipal plenary into a document to be defended in a joint meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Health. The objective is a united and strong position to demand the healthcare services that Ontinyent and La Vall d'Albaida deserve.
