Last weekend, the autonomous finals of Valencian volleyball were held in Elche, serving as qualifying rounds for the national championship. For Club Volei Platja Bellreguard, an entity with only two years of existence, this was its first federative experience, and it managed to place two female teams in the finals.
On Saturday, it was the turn of the female Alevín teams, who qualified for the autonomous final, where the 16 best teams competed. After a tough qualification phase, they managed to win matches against prestigious clubs such as CV Sant Joan d'Alacant and Club Voleibol Gandia. Although they lost against Conqueridor de València and Il·licità Carrús, these results allowed them to secure a well-deserved seventh place.
The best was yet to come on Sunday with the Benjamín competition. Club Volei Platja Bellreguard and Arenas de Gandia joined forces to form two surprising teams: a male team under the name of the Gandia entity and the female Benjamín team under the Bellreguard entity.
The female team, coached by Paco Ibáñez and Sara, demonstrated great competitive ability. Players Laia Ibáñez and Carla Pérez from Bellreguard, along with Leonor Giner and Melany Badran from Arenas, overcame high-category teams from the Valencian Community, such as Mediterrani de Castelló, CV València, and Salesians Elx. In a very disputed semifinal, they defeated the girls from Daia Nova. In the final, fatigue took its toll, and they succumbed to Il·licità de Elche, achieving an autonomous runner-up title that allows them to qualify for the national championship.
The male team, wearing the colors of Arenas, was composed of Enzo and Víctor from Arenas, Aimar from CVP Bellreguard, and Adrián and Miquel from Rois de Corella. All of them, along with their coaches Ximo Borrás and Ainhoa, achieved another autonomous runner-up title, which will allow them to play with the best clubs in the country at the end of June in Valladolid.
Now, the Bellreguard club, together with its friends from Gandia, faces the preparation for the double Spanish championship. The main challenge will be the economic aspect, which they hope to solve through tournaments, raffles, and sponsorships.
