To mark International Museum Day, the city of Gandia will exceptionally open the rear door of the Gandia Archaeological Museum (MAGa). This passage is the only access point that remains intact from the ancient walls that once protected the town and is usually closed to the public as it is located on a dead-end street.
The Councilor for Heritage, Alícia Izquierdo, and the director of the MAGa, Carles Miret, have presented a special program under the theme “Museums uniting a divided world”. All activities will take place this Sunday, May 24th, will be completely free, and will not require prior registration.
“"It will be opened exclusively during this activity so that participants can access the museum through this unique heritage element"
The City Council has designed a morning full of activities for all audiences. At 10:00 AM, there will be a historical guided tour starting at the Mirador del Serpis, tracing the original layout of Gandia's wall, culminating with exclusive access through the historic gate into the museum.
At 11:00 AM, family workshops will be held around the museum, and at 12:00 PM, a guided tour of the MAGa facilities will be offered to explore the region's archaeological heritage in depth.
The Heritage department invites all citizens and visitors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to discover the best-kept secrets of Gandia's history.
