The Paraninfo of the University of Alicante will be the stage where the Elahood company presents its production ‘NÓ’. This contemporary creation and urban dance show, directed by Sabela Domínguez, Julia Laport, and Kenrick Sandy, and performed by Julia Laport and Uxía Rivas, invites the audience to “a dreamlike journey, stretching and distorting the meaning of what is important,” according to its creators.
The performance will take place on Tuesday, May 26th, at 7 PM, with tickets available for €7. The Galician company describes the show as a work “under a contemporary creation perspective that starts from the feeling of having something important to say, but not yet knowing what it is.” They define it as “a collage that stems from the most naive intuition of two Galician women who surrender to having to be important.”
Julia Laport and Uxía Rivas bring this urban dance proposal focused on the “existential search for identity while deciding one's life path, inviting collective reflection on current concerns.” The company indicates that “the current debate addressing gender deconstruction and class consciousness filters into this performance through a lens of irony and fantasy.”
‘NÓ’ is part of the Dance on Stage programming at the University of Alicante, organized in collaboration with Redescena. The production is notable for Elahood's characteristic aesthetic, featuring precise, clean, and extremely coordinated dance. Two additional performances are scheduled for next autumn.
