The C1 Cercanías line between València and Gandia will feature a new traction electrical substation, tendered by Adif for nearly eight million euros, to enhance network reliability.

The infrastructure, to be built in Gandia, aims primarily to increase the line's electrification capacity, strengthening the Silla-Gandia section and the branch between Gandia Mercancías and Gandia beach. According to the mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, this action addresses a user demand to improve reliability, enhance safety, and significantly reduce incidents.
The new substation will be equipped with two 3,000 kW traction units and will include a new 20 kV underground supply line connected to Iberdrola's substation in Gandia. The mayor highlighted that this investment is part of the improvement plan for the Gandia-València line, totaling over 170 million euros committed to modernizing the infrastructure.
The Gandia City Council maintains an "exigent and demanding" stance with administrations to convey the demands of train users, aiming to turn them into solutions and real service improvements. The mayor expressed confidence that the ongoing works on the Silla-Cullera section will contribute to better punctuality and frequencies.
The main strategic objective for the region remains the doubling of the track between Cullera and Gandia, a project that has already passed the environmental impact assessment. The substation construction is part of the Valencian Community Commuter Plan promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
