The main teaching unions, including STEPV, UGT, CCOO, and CSIF, have called this protest to demand improvements in staffing, especially in Vocational Training, the coverage of sick leave, and the defense of the Valencian language in the education system, following recent legislative changes.
During the first hours of the morning, adherence in the capital of La Safor showed significant differences between educational centers. CEIP Cervantes led participation with 87% of teachers on strike, followed by Joan XXIII in El Grau with 83%, and CEIP Roís de Corella with 82%.
In other centers, the impact was more moderate. CEIP Joan Martorell recorded 68% participation, while at IES Ausiàs March, a prominent institute, adherence reached 51%. The Official Language School of Gandia reported the lowest figure in the locality, with 25% participation.
“"The Ministry of Education has established minimum services with the aim of not harming final evaluations or EBAU preparation, a measure criticized by union sectors for being considered «indefinite» and a hindrance to the right to strike."
At the regional level, the Ministry of Education has estimated overall adherence at moderate levels, while unions speak of a «cry for public education» that has been particularly noticeable in the regions. In nearby towns such as Tavernes (95%) or Oliva (up to 97% at Lluís Vives), adherence figures were even higher than in Gandia.
