The Gandia Beach will be the setting next Saturday, June 6th, for the 14th edition of the 10K Night Race Gandia by Bollo Natural Fruit. The event, consolidated as a major sporting and tourist attraction, has surpassed all registration expectations, setting a historic record compared to the previous year, as announced by Vicent Boscà, president of the Club Atletisme Safor Teika, the race organizer.
The Councilor for Sports, Jesús Naveiro, highlighted the race's unique nature, starting at 9:00 PM with the start and finish line on the Maritime Promenade. He emphasized that it is a race "unique for its night format and idyllic setting," as well as being "one of the fastest circuits on the calendar, completely flat and approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation." The forecast of high participation has led to the organization of staggered starts to ensure smooth flow.
Vicent Boscà detailed the organizational novelties, such as the pace-based start corrals (sub35, sub40, sub45, and over 45) and two differentiated starts to enhance safety. The competition will include youth, promise, senior, and veteran categories, with trophies for the top three in each category, the overall classification, and local athletes. Female participation reaches 36%, a notable percentage for approved 10K races.
The Councilor for Tourism and Culture, Balbina Sendra, highlighted the 10K as a key element of Gandia's sports tourism strategy, attracting national and international visitors. She noted that the typical participant profile, mostly between 30 and 50 years old, generates significant economic impact in the city, linking the event with cultural resources such as the Palau Ducal and the Museu Faller.
The organization reminded that registrations will remain open until Tuesday at 12:00 PM. Bib collection will take place on Saturday at the parking lot of the Marina de Gandia. It is advisable to arrive early in the beach area to facilitate event logistics, which will include aid stations at kilometer 5 and the finish line, entertainment along the route, a runner's bag, and final fireworks.
