The delegated councilor for Equality, Diversity and LGTBI, Maribel Codina, highlighted the council's commitment to these initiatives. She emphasized that the City Council will continue to support these actions, as Gandia is an open, tolerant, and inclusive city.
“"It is a pride to come and present all the activities carried out by the CLGS collective."
The president of CLGS, Ximo López, explained the planned activity program. The institutional act will take place on Thursday, April 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the Plaza Mayor, where the manifesto will be read and a banner will be placed from the council balcony.
Additionally, on Friday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m., the Gandia Youth Council will host a lecture on the representation of lesbian visibility throughout the history of cinema and television, given by Ximo López himself. The activity will have free admission and will include an aperitif for attendees.
López stressed the importance of this commemoration, noting that lesbian visibility must be claimed due to the double discrimination many women in the collective suffer. He also underlined the need to avoid the invisibilization of these realities and to maintain these types of initiatives over time.
“"Visibility is key."
The CLGS member, Nerea Ferrer, encouraged citizens to participate in the activities, reminding them that in Gandia people can be whatever they want to be. Ferrer also highlighted the Youth Council as a safe space and invited the population to participate with open arms.
