The Gandia City Council and the Club Natació i Esports Gandia have presented the 18th edition of the José María Ángel 'Pitet' Trophy, a youth swimming competition that will gather around 250 swimmers from across the Valencian Community.

The competition, considered one of the most emblematic events in the local sports calendar, will take place next Saturday, April 18, at the municipal indoor swimming pool in Gandia. The event will be divided into two sessions: the first from approximately 10:00 to 13:00, and the second in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 19:00.
The trophy is aimed at pre-benjamin, benjamin, and alevín categories, with ages ranging from 7 to 14 years. Around 250 swimmers are expected to participate, coming from a dozen clubs across the Valencian Community, including representations from the provinces of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia.

"This event is a benchmark in sports training and in promoting swimming among young people."

Jesús Naveiro · Sports Councillor of Gandia
Participating clubs include Xúquer, Sueca, Xàtiva, València Màster Sedaví, Trencaones de Alzira, Elda, Caxton College, Lucentum de Alicante, Oliva, and the organizing club itself, the Club Natació i Esports Gandia.
During the competition, various stroke events such as butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley will be contested, in addition to relay races in different categories. The organization plans to award prizes to the top three finishers in each individual and team event, as well as trophies for the clubs with the highest overall score.
As a new feature to promote grassroots sports, the pre-club of Natació i Esports Gandia, comprising children aged 5 and 6, will perform a 25-meter exhibition before the start of the competition. This initiative aims to introduce the youngest participants to the competitive world of swimming.
