The Gandia City Council has designed a comprehensive agenda of cultural and festive activities for the Corpus Christi 2026 celebration, taking place from May 30 to June 7.

The city of Gandia is preparing for the Corpus Christi 2026 celebration, a festival that combines tradition, heritage, music, and Valencian popular culture. The program, organized by the City Council's Department of Culture, Fairs, and Festivals, will run from May 30 to June 7, aiming to bring one of the most deeply rooted celebrations closer to the citizens.
Activities will commence on Saturday, May 30, with the traditional Corpus Eve. At 7:00 PM, from the Passeig de les Germanies, in front of the Casa de Cultura Marqués de González de Quirós, a parade will begin featuring the Giants of Gandia, dance groups, and dulzaina and tabalet ensembles, which will tour the historic center to the Plaça Major.
On the same day, at 7:30 PM, the exhibition “Festa i art en moviment. Elements de la Festa del Corpus Christi” will open in the Sala dels Arcs of the City Council. The exhibition, open until June 7 with free admission, will offer a journey through the history of Corpus Christi in Gandia through audiovisual material, historical press clippings, photographs, sheet music, musical instruments, and traditional Valencian attire from the 18th and 19th centuries.
The educational aspect will be highlighted on Thursday, June 4, at 8:00 PM, with the conference “Governing the town, staging the faith: Corpus Christi in medieval Gandia.” The conference will be delivered by Sandra Bernabeu Borja, a Doctor of History and researcher at the Universitat de València, who will analyze the role of Corpus Christi as a tool for social cohesion and institutional representation in medieval Gandia.
Music will also play a prominent role. On Friday, June 5, at 9:00 PM, the Insigne Col·legiata de Gandia will host the Corpus Christi Concert, performed by the Societat Musical de Benirredrà under the direction of Josep Alemany. The following day, Saturday, June 6, at 8:00 PM, the Plaça de la Vila will be the stage for the concert “Músiques processionals Corpus Christi València,” by the Colla de Dolçainers i Tabaleters de la Safor, directed by Pascual Salort.
The central day of the festival will be celebrated on Sunday, June 7. Starting at 7:00 PM, the Plaça Major will host the traditional Corpus Dances, featuring the "enramada de murta" and the participation of numerous traditional dances such as the Ball de Cabets, Bastons, Cavallets, Arquets, la Jota, la Dansà dels Llauradors, la Dansà de la Magrana, la Dansà de Gandia, and the emblematic Ball de la Moma, accompanied by the dulzaina and tabalet ensembles from La Safor and El Grau.
Following this, at 8:00 PM, the solemn Corpus Christi procession will take place from the Plaça Major and the Insigne Col·legiata de Gandia. The procession will include cultural entities, dance groups, festive and religious collectives from the city, as well as the presence of the Cirialots accompanied by the Banda del Centre Musical de Beniopa and the Custodia, carried by the Brotherhood of the Holy Supper of Santa Anna.
The celebration is organized by the Department of Culture, Fairs, and Festivals of the Gandia City Council, coordinated by the Associació Cultural Balls del Corpus de Gandia, and supported by the Centre de Gandia of the Universitat de València and the Junta de Germandats de la Setmana Santa de Gandia.
