The city of Gandia is gearing up for an intense weekend with the celebration of the Gandia City Triathlon and the Autonomous Aquathlon Championship, bringing together over 1,100 athletes around the port and Grau beach.

These events, organized by the Triathlon Federation of the Valencian Community and the Gandia Triathlon Club, solidify the capital of La Safor as a sports and tourism benchmark. The Gandia City Triathlon, in sprint modality, will take place on Sunday, April 12, starting at 9:00 AM, with the participation of over 400 triathletes.
The triathlon course includes 750 meters of swimming, 21.5 kilometers of cycling, and 5 kilometers of running, with a circuit that runs between the port, the promenade, and the breakwater lighthouse. This event will count towards the Valencian Community Club League and will also offer an open modality for non-federated athletes or those from other communities.
A day earlier, on Saturday, April 11, the Autonomous Aquathlon Championship will be held, gathering nearly 130 participants in the absolute category. The competition will consist of a 1,000-meter swim in the port and a 5-kilometer run along the promenade and breakwater. Additionally, the paratriathlon modality will be included, reinforcing the event's inclusive nature.

"Gandia is once again positioning itself as a key enclave for sports in the Valencian Community, hosting top-level competitions and attracting athletes, technicians, and fans, thereby also boosting the beach area."

Jesús Naveiro · Sports Councilor
Saturday's events will kick off at 9:00 AM with the third edition of the School Aquathlon, integrated into the autonomous phase of the Jocs Esportius. This event will feature 233 young athletes from infant, cadet, and junior categories, who will tackle distances adapted to their age, with segments of between 400 and 500 meters of swimming and between 1 and 2 kilometers of running.
The organization highlights the consolidation of these events within the autonomous calendar and their contribution to promoting grassroots sports, as well as projecting Gandia as a destination for high-level competitions. In total, nearly 800 athletes will compete in the aquathlon and triathlon events, generating a significant sports and tourism impact in the city. The circuits will remain closed to traffic during the competitions to ensure participant safety.
