Volunteers will take to the streets with 15 petition tables distributed throughout the city, including Grau, to request public collaboration. The objective is to raise awareness about the importance of small acts of solidarity in achieving significant advances in the fight against the disease.
The Councilor for Health and Healthy Policies has highlighted the importance of this initiative and its direct impact on improving the quality of life for people affected by cancer. She emphasized that citizen aid transforms into essential services such as psychological care, social work, physiotherapy, and, especially, research.
“"It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the Spanish Association Against Cancer in this collection, carried out by volunteers who go out to the streets to ask for citizen collaboration, an aid that transforms into essential services such as psychological care, social work, physiotherapy, and, above all, research."
Last year, Gandia was the second municipality in the province of Valencia with the highest collection, reaching 223,000 euros allocated to the fight against cancer. The president of the Local Board of Gandia of the Spanish Association Against Cancer has highlighted this year's motto, "When you stop, we move against cancer," and thanked the involvement of the city council.
The entity allocated 1.77 million euros to research in the province of Valencia last year, emphasizing the relevance of this area in combating a disease present in the lives of many people. Gandia's solidarity is more than proven, and therefore the entire population is invited to contribute.
