The spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group in the Gandia City Council, Adrián Vila, recently met with the PSPV-PSOE deputy in the Valencian Corts, Romina del Rey, to analyze and address the Valencian Government's budget for this year, 2026. They have announced that they will present a series of amendments concerning Gandia, necessary to claim pending investments and actions and to demand the fulfillment of commitments made to the city.
Del Rey highlighted that Gandia will only receive 2.6 million euros from the Valencian Government for 2026, of which 88% – meaning 2.3 million euros – will be allocated to the Gandia Arena pavilion, a project approved by the Botànic Government. “The data speaks for itself, as the PP knows that with 300,000 euros they cannot solve any problems for Gandia's citizens. Therefore, Pérez Llorca's Consell has no interest in Gandia,” she stated.
Regarding healthcare and education, the socialist regional deputy pointed out that “there are 0 euros for the expansion of the Francesc de Borja University Hospital, with closed clinics and only 50,000 euros for the expansion of the Grau health center. Furthermore, the budget does not include any improvements in educational infrastructure. This is the PP's commitment to public healthcare and education in Gandia”.
For his part, Vila stated that “the Generalitat's budgets, the first under Pérez Llorca as president, are once again disappointing for Gandia, within a defaulting administration that owes the city council over 8 million euros and has also cut subsidies worth more than 4 million euros annually. Thus, nearly 80% of the projected budget corresponds to multi-year projects already committed by the Botànic Government,” Vila indicated.
The socialist councilor in the Gandia City Council believes that “while the PP spokesperson, Víctor Soler, tries to sell that he has influence over his ‘bosses’ in Valencia, the reality is very different, as he has become a hindrance to the city. Gandia deserves respect, real investments, and that the PP Consell fulfills its obligations”.
The amendments to be presented will focus on healthcare aspects such as, for example, the expansion of the Francesc de Borja University Hospital or allocating the necessary funds for the expansion of the Grau health center. Regarding education, the scarce funding for the future Integrated Center for Vocational Training is lamented.
At the same time, it is requested to advance in housing matters and in projects such as the construction of the collector and anti-storm tank on Enginyer Navarro Reverter avenue. Furthermore, the recovery of bonuses for the C1 commuter line of the Gandia-Valencia train, employment plans, aid for the tourism sector, and cooperation funds are demanded.
"From the Socialist Group in the Valencian Corts, we will amend these budgets with the responsibility of improving the quality of life in the city of Gandia. An open, solidary, and diverse city, which is an example of public policies under the management of socialist governments,” concluded Romina del Rey.
