The Club Atletisme Gandia-Alpesa delivered a remarkable performance at the Spanish Master Half Marathon Championship, held last Saturday, April 11, in Mérida, securing a commendable tenth position by clubs despite the tough race conditions.

The competition, characterized by significant elevation gain, strong winds, and intense heat, tested the athletes' endurance. Although only four of the six registered athletes were able to finish the race due to physical issues, the Gandia team demonstrated its capability in a particularly demanding environment.
Individually, the performances of Javier Marqués Montilla and Desirée Pellicer Fayos stood out. Marqués achieved a brilliant eleventh place in the M50 category with a time of 1:18:51, setting his personal best in a Spanish Championship. Meanwhile, Pellicer secured an excellent seventh place in F50 with a time of 1:43:21, also improving her personal best in this type of competition.
The Vidal brothers also completed the race, despite carrying physical problems. Diego Vidal Bataller finished in twenty-fifth position in M50 with a time of 1:22:49, while Pepe Vidal Ballester was thirty-third in M55 with a time of 1:34:38.
The club expressed its gratitude and recognition for the effort of all six registered athletes, who fought until the last moment to be at the starting line and represent the club and the city of Gandia in a national competition.
