Last Saturday, one of the musicians from the Beniopa band performed a flute solo at the Teatre Serrano in Gandia, as part of the orchestra's spring concert. However, his performance was not the only surprise of the night, as he took the opportunity to propose marriage to his partner, who is also a bandmate.
According to him, the couple met at the Beniopa music school at the age of six, quickly becoming best friends and formalizing their relationship around 2019. For the musician, sharing passions like music and work is a great privilege, as it allows them to spend time together both in rehearsals and at concerts.
“"It's not just time at home with her, it's also every day of rehearsal with the band, concert outings… In the end, we go together and that's what I like the most."
After seven years together, the idea of proposing marriage had been on his mind. The band's director, Iván González, suggested the idea of doing it at the Santa Cecilia concert last November, but he finally decided to wait for the spring concert. The musician felt it was a good moment, surrounded by the band, which is like family to them, and with family and friends among the audience.
“"I think she was very excited, we were surrounded by the band – which is like our family – and the audience who came were also family and friends. I saw it was a good moment, I decided and went for it."
The situation generated a lot of nerves, not only for the proposal but also for the flute solo he had to perform. Despite the preparation, nerves were present, but on the day of the performance, he remained calm. Once the concert ended, his partner approached to give him a bouquet of flowers in recognition of his performance, a moment he seized to surprise her with the proposal.
Some bandmates were already aware of his intention, and the news spread quickly. In fact, several of them played the song Can You Feel the Love Tonight from the movie The Lion King in the background to accompany the moment. The auditorium filled with applause and cheers, creating a very emotional atmosphere.
The couple expects the wedding to take place in May next year, although the specific date is not yet set. Despite the short time since the proposal, they have already started looking at details such as the guest list and budgets.
