Gandia Hosts University Hackathon to Boost Urban Health

The Campus Salud de Gandia will host the fourth edition of its university hackathon, an event bringing together over 80 students from various disciplines to develop innovative solutions in the field of urban health.

This event will focus on the design of healthy cities, specifically addressing the impact of obesity and its link to cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Participants will need to propose initiatives applicable to a medium-sized city like Gandia, combining data analysis and creativity.
A hackathon coordinator and professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València highlighted the multidisciplinary approach of the initiative, involving students from engineering, medicine, and pharmacy, with the aim of generating evidence-based proposals.

Furthermore, a representative from the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health announced institutional support for the project through European Commission funding, focused on health determinants. They emphasized the importance of combining technological and social innovation.
From the municipal sphere, a councilor stressed the event's relevance for the city, stating that
