This educational project, aimed at students in the second and third cycles of Primary Education and Compulsory Secondary Education, seeks to foster an appreciation for mathematics through problem-solving and cooperative work. The Gandia City Council collaborates in this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to educational activities that promote student participation and learning.
Following the success of the first edition in 2019, the center is resuming this project to strengthen ties between different educational institutions in the city. On this occasion, a total of 251 students from 13 centers, 11 from Gandia and two from Oliva, are participating, thus consolidating the initiative as a benchmark proposal within the educational community.
The Mathematical Challenge stands out for its innovative format that promotes collaboration among students, as teams are made up of students from different schools. This methodology favors the development of skills such as creativity, teamwork, and logical-deductive reasoning. Furthermore, all activities are contextualized within the city of Gandia, aiming to familiarize students with its history and local traditions.
The event will take place on April 25 and will be divided into two phases. During the morning, at Colegio Abecé, participants will complete various written group tests. Subsequently, after lunch, the teams qualified for the final phase will be announced. In the afternoon, the competition will move to different areas of the city, such as the Archaeological Museum of Gandia (MAGa) and the Serpis viewpoint area, where ingenuity tests and outdoor activities will be held. The day will conclude with a performance and the awards ceremony for the winning teams.
With this project, Colegio Abecé reaffirms its commitment to innovative and quality education, fostering both learning and coexistence among students from different centers. The educational community eagerly awaits this new edition, which will turn Gandia into a meeting point for young talent and a passion for mathematics.
