The Sueca Local Police has received two new state-level awards for animal rescues carried out during the last two DANA storms, highlighting their involvement and public service vocation.

These recognitions, granted within the VII Awards for Police Services for Animal Protection, will be presented by the Minister of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2023, Pablo Bustinduy. The official ceremony will take place on June 19 in Madrid, within the framework of the conference 'Protect and care: the role of Police Services in the defense of animals', as announced by the Sueca City Council.
The awards highlight the work of Chief Inspector Ricardo Muñoz, as coordinator of this specialized line of work, and Agent Antonio Bolufer. The latter has been awarded the Police Medal for Animal Protection, in the Performance Awards category and its Gold category, for his effort, involvement, and dedication in volunteer work related to animal protection.
The awarded actions correspond to animal rescues carried out during the emergencies of the last two DANA storms, as well as subsequent volunteer work, delivering animal feed to isolated and difficult-to-access areas of different towns.

"Beyond individual recognition, these awards also represent the involvement and service vocation of the entire staff, made up of agents and commanders who contribute every day to consolidating an increasingly prepared Local Police of Sueca."

Noelia Benedito · Councillor for Citizen Security
The Councillor for Citizen Security, Noelia Benedito, emphasized that these recognitions are another example of the path of modernization, specialization, and continuous improvement of public service that the force has developed in recent years. They also reflect the sensitivity, responsiveness, and clear public service vocation of the Sueca Local Police, strengthening an increasingly close and specialized police model.
In 2025, the force already received the Gold Medal in Road Safety, a distinction to which these new awards are now added, confirming the projection and constant work of a staff committed to excellence and continuous improvement of service to citizens.
