From early morning, participants prepared traditional paellas for 15 servings, following the official recipe of the competition. The goal was to secure a spot in the grand final, which will be held next September in Sueca, where they will compete for the recognition of the best Valencian paella in the world.
Ribalta Park was transformed into a showcase of Valencian gastronomy, hosting participants, judges, and the public. A Tourism councilor highlighted the importance of hosting such an event, which combines tradition, professionalism, and tourist promotion, consolidating the city's position within the circuit of this prestigious international competition.
“"It is great news that La Tasca El Puerto is in the final among the best paellas in the world, a clear demonstration of the talent, dedication, and high gastronomic level that exists in our city, as well as the commitment of our professionals to keep the tradition and excellence of Valencian paella alive."
A total of 40 restaurants from different towns in the Valencian Community cooked their paellas outdoors, under the supervision of the jury and strictly following the established ingredients and process. After deliberation, 12 chefs were selected for the grand final in Sueca. Among the qualifiers is La Tasca Del Puerto, which will represent the city of Castellón de la Plana.
This year, the public could purchase a portion of paella for a symbolic price of 2 euros. The proceeds were donated to the Dragon Boat of Castellón oncology team, which carries out prevention and awareness activities about diseases such as breast cancer and other types of cancer, in addition to supporting people with disabilities.
