The Ribera Baixa Chess Club – L’Agricultura de Sueca has once again stood out in the Regional Age-Group Championship, which took place at the Hotel Santa Marta in Cullera. The club participated with nine players and achieved very notable results, with two regional titles as the main reward.
In the U8 category, one of the participants was crowned regional female champion, tied on points with the third-place finisher. Another participant in the same category finished in fourth position, also tied for third place. In U10, the club was represented by three players who completed a good championship with scores of 4.5, 3.5, and 3 points respectively.
Regarding the U12 category, one of the players achieved a meritorious fourth position, missing the podium by just half a point in one of the tournament's most demanding categories. Finally, in U18, two players concluded the club's participation with a very solid performance, scoring 4 and 4.5 points respectively. These results allowed one of the players to be proclaimed U18 regional champion, extending her track record just one week after also being crowned in the U16 category.
“"From the club, they wanted to highlight the effort, dedication, and exemplary behavior of the nine players, as well as their role as role models within the school."
The club has especially congratulated the two champions for their regional titles, which will allow them to obtain a sports scholarship from the Valencian Community Chess Federation to participate in the Spanish Championships of their categories, which will be held this summer in Vícar (Almería). With these results, the Ribera Baixa Chess School continues to consolidate itself as one of the benchmarks in grassroots chess in the Valencian Community, a result of constant work in the training of its players.
