The PSOE has agreed to the provisional expulsion of an Almussafes councillor and the opening of disciplinary proceedings for publicly supporting a new independent political project, escalating the crisis in the locality.

The decision, signed by the PSOE Federal Executive Commission on May 8, considers that the councillor may have engaged in "disloyal" actions against the organization. Among the reasons for the disciplinary action, the party points to a social media post accusing the leadership of the PSPV and PSOE of carrying out a "vendetta" against the mayor.

"I have been crucified for siding with the mayor. The reason for the expulsion is for exercising the right to freedom of expression."

The federal resolution considers it particularly serious that the statement explicitly referred to the creation of a new political project "in rivalry with the socialist candidacy." Furthermore, the file includes a report from the PSPV National Ethics Commission stating that the Almussafes management committee had already warned councillors that promoting another political formation would be incompatible with continued membership in the PSOE.
According to the document, the councillors subsequently maintained their public support for the mayor and expressed their willingness to participate in the future independent project. Therefore, the PSOE understands that the councillor may have violated the duty of loyalty to the party, undermined the organization's image, and acted against agreements made by governing bodies.
The provisional expulsion of the councillor marks a new chapter in the open crisis between the Almussafes socialist group and the party's regional and federal leadership. Following the definitive expulsion of the mayor, the mayor's circle is now working on creating an independent candidacy for the 2027 municipal elections, a move that threatens to break one of the PSPV's main historical strongholds.
The conflict began after allegations of alleged sexual and workplace harassment were filed against the mayor with the PSOE's internal bodies. Since then, the mayor and his circle maintain that there is a "political campaign" against them driven by the party leadership.
