A cable theft on the railway infrastructure of the C2 commuter line in Valencia caused significant delays and service disruptions yesterday, Monday, April 6, 2026, between the towns of Benifaió and Algemesí, affecting users in the region.

The incident was detected at 5:29 AM, when a signaling problem was reported in the affected section. Subsequently, the theft of approximately 200 meters of cable between kilometer points 90+600 and 90+700 was confirmed, directly impacting all train services from early morning.
At 6:54 AM, an official notice was issued regarding the infrastructure breakdown between both localities, warning passengers of potential delays and stoppages. Throughout the morning, delays were constant, averaging around 10 minutes by 8:13 AM, causing considerable inconvenience to users of this vital line for mobility in Ribera Alta.
The situation did not normalize until well into the afternoon. By 1:18 PM, trains were still experiencing delays in both directions, with the possibility of modifications to usual routes. Finally, at 2:28 PM, after the stolen cable was replaced, service was progressively restored.
This episode adds to other recent cable thefts in the area. Just a week ago, arrests were made in Alfarb related to the theft of copper cable from essential transport sector company facilities. Those incidents led to the cancellation of 76 Renfe trains and delays for 619 others passing through the province of Valencia.
