The city of Castelló is gearing up to host the seventh edition of the SONORAS cycle, taking place on May 30th at the Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló (EACC). The event, known for its commitment to sonic and visual experimentation, this year features a notable lineup including Peaches, Cora Novoa, HORMA + Azael Ferrer, and Rachael. The morning program will include a performance by Ruïnosa y las Strippers de Rahola, as part of the Tragapinyols Festival.
SONORAS is consolidating itself as a space where listening is conceived as an artistic, political, and community experience. The cycle views sound not just as a concert, but as a territory of friction where the dance floor, performance, live audiovisuals, punk gestures, and technological research coexist.
The afternoon program will kick off at 5:30 PM with Rachael, a Madrid-based resident DJ, who will offer three sets based on electro, techno, and the hardcore continuum, exploring open forms built from vinyl. At 6:00 PM, HORMA + Azael Ferrer will present MATADERO, an audiovisual performance that interrogates the image of the body in the age of artificial intelligence. At 7:30 PM, Cora Novoa will deliver an A/V live set that places techno on a conceptual and sensory level, expanding the dialogue between body and machine.
The day will conclude at 9:00 PM with the iconic Peaches, an electroclash pioneer and feminist icon, presenting a DJ set that views the dance floor as a space for emancipation, blending raw electronics, irony, and a strong bodily component.
The morning program, at 1:00 PM, will feature Ruïnosa y las Strippers de Rahola, with a punk and DIY approach that connects self-publishing with celebration as a form of resistance. This collaboration with the Tragapinyols Festival reinforces the EACC's role as a space open to diverse languages.
The free access to SONORAS underscores its commitment to openness and fostering a listening community. This edition reaffirms the focus on experimentation as a way to expand artistic and cultural possibilities from Castelló to national and international networks.
