The agricultural fair Agroguadassuar opened its doors this Friday, featuring a wide range of offerings and several novelties. The Ribera and Valldigna Consortium, an entity that manages domestic waste from 51 localities in Ribera Alta, Baixa, and Valldigna, joins this event once again with a stand dedicated to environmental education.
As a novelty, the consortium's information point is located in the new Agroeduca section, a space that also features the presence of the Firefighters Consortium and offers educational activities for children. The main objective is to promote the source separation of waste through two key activities.
Fair visitors have the opportunity to take a guided tour of an ecomobile, which allows them to understand the operation of these facilities and their importance for environmental protection. Additionally, the action “Each waste to its color” has been prepared, designed to help attendees apply the waste hierarchy in their daily habits and understand the environmental value of the organic container, intended for food scraps.
“"The agricultural sector and sustainable waste management go hand in hand: for example, food scraps from the brown container in Ribera and Valldigna are composted, becoming a high-quality ecological fertilizer."
Environmental awareness and education for the citizens of the 51 municipalities that make up Ribera Alta, Baixa, and Valldigna has been a fundamental pillar for the Consortium since its inception. At the Guadassuar Waste Valorization Complex, schoolchildren and organized groups can observe firsthand the process that waste follows, from its arrival by municipal collection truck until it is transformed into recycled raw material. Those interested in visiting the plant and learning more about waste management can request a visit by sending an email to educacio@conriv.es.
