This incident marks the second time in less than five days that a cable theft has affected this line, which connects Valencia with Xàtiva and Moixent. Last week, a similar theft caused delays and cancellations, leading to crowded stations in towns like Algemesí or Benifaió-Silla. Technicians are already working in the affected area to restore normal service.
The delays began early this morning with the start of service and are affecting trains in both directions. For example, a train scheduled to depart at 05:25 AM bound for l'Alcúdia was running fifteen minutes late through Algemesí. Similarly, the 06:37 AM train from Valencia Nord to Gandia departed fifteen minutes late, and the 06:50 AM train to Xàtiva ran 26 minutes late through Algemesí.
According to the railway operator, the average delays on the C2 line are fifteen minutes, and no train cancellations have been reported so far. These disruptions are in addition to ongoing construction work between Alzira and La Pobla Llarga to repair damage from an April fire near Carcaixent, which had already forced the cancellation of ten daily trains. Although the works were expected to finish on May 10th and normal schedules to resume this Monday, the new cable theft has prevented this.
