The Mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, accompanied by the Councilor for Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation, Paco Cabañero, the Councilor for Institutional Relations, Vicent Sales, and the regional secretary of Transparency and Participation, Carmen Uriol, participated in a day marked by coexistence and a good atmosphere.
Carrasco emphasized that “neighborhood associations are a key element for better listening to the neighborhoods and building a closer, more participatory, and cohesive city”. She stressed that “Castellón becomes stronger when its residents get involved, participate, and work together to improve their surroundings. Residents are the ones who guide the government's management, through Participatory Budgets, Councils, and District Boards; together we work for a better Castellón”. The mayor wanted to highlight “the commitment to active listening, dialogue, and citizen participation as fundamental pillars in the municipal government's action, working daily for a Castellón for everyone and for all”.
As a main novelty, the gathering was held at the fair and market venue (Refeyme), a larger and more functional space. Additionally, this edition incorporated Regional Houses for the first time, enriching the day with their cultural contributions. During the event, participating entities had information booths, and performances included singing, regional dances, Latin dances, ballroom dancing, tango, Zumba, sevillanas, dolçaina i tabal, jotas, and choirs.
The day concluded with a communal meal. Carrasco valued “the altruistic work of those who, from each association, dedicate time, effort, and enthusiasm to improving their neighborhoods”. “From the City Council, we will continue walking hand in hand with the neighborhood fabric, because listening to the neighborhoods is the best way to create a more vibrant city designed for people,” she concluded.
