The decarbonization of the ceramic industry in Castellón finds its most advanced and viable technology in electrification. The first electric kilns have already been developed, resulting from collaborations such as Equipe Cerámicas with Systemfoc, and Pamesa with Kerajet.
This alternative presents greater economic viability, as highlighted at the Qualicer congress. Samuel Pérez Ramírez, a director at Iberdrola, emphasized the benefits of electrification, explaining that electric kilns are more efficient than gas-fired ones and have a similar cost due to avoiding CO₂ emissions.
The energy company has underscored the economic competitiveness of electric kilns compared to other options like green hydrogen or biomethane, establishing it as the preferred solution for a more sustainable future in the ceramic sector.
