The Generalitat Valenciana has closed the Tàndem sports education center in Carlet, dedicated to sports diving training, which never became operational since its authorization eight years ago.

The Ministry of Education granted authorization to the Tàndem center in 2018 to offer intermediate-level courses in autonomous scuba diving, with a capacity for 80 students. Theoretical classes were to be held at the private school La Devesa School, in the same municipality, and practical sessions at the Spain Buceo diving center.
However, neither of the two agreements materialized. The center never conducted any activities, as it lacked teachers, enrolled students, and operational facilities. The agreement with the school, signed in 2015, was never implemented or renewed, and the Spain Buceo center has been closed for months, as indicated by the Generalitat in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV).
The closure process began in November 2024, six years after the authorization. The Authorizations Service requested documentation proving the availability of facilities, but the owning company, Técnicos Deportivos Tándem S.L., did not respond. After two unsuccessful requests, the Education Inspectorate visited the center in November 2025, confirming its non-functionality and the absence of valid agreements.
In March 2026, the extinction procedure was initiated, giving the company ten days to submit allegations. Due to the lack of response, the Minister of Education, Carmen Ortí, signed the extinction order on April 15, 2026. The company has one month to file an appeal for reconsideration or two months to directly appeal to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).
