The Compromís deputy in Les Corts has attacked the Department of Culture budget for 2026, denouncing a management style that, according to the party, is dismantling the Valencian cultural sector.

During the appearance before the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, the Compromís representative pointed out that the public accounts are worsening the conflict with sector professionals. As explained, the current management has turned the Institut Valencià de Cultura into a problem for the creators themselves, due to the lack of resources and pending aid payments.
The criticism focused on the 12 million euro cut to the IVC, while the agency still has 13 million unspent from the previous budget. The deputy questioned the reduction of funds for Valencian audiovisuals while prioritizing large international productions, a decision deemed contrary to strengthening the local cultural fabric.
Furthermore, the elimination of aid for books in Valencian and cuts affecting reference institutions such as the IVAM or the Consorci de Museus were denounced. Regarding heritage, the party warned of a 6.5 million euro reduction in a general directorate that already left 23 million unspent last year.

"They are punishing strategic sectors for our language and culture while increasing other items that have nothing to do with Valencian cultural promotion."
