The Ciutat de Castelló Pavilion hosted the closing ceremony of the 46th Municipal Sports Games, where 412 medals were awarded to 40 teams and over 400 young athletes were recognized.

The Ciutat de Castelló Pavilion served as the venue for the closing ceremony of the 46th edition of the Municipal Sports Games. The event, presided over by Mayor Begoña Carrasco and Sports Councilor Maica Hurtado, honored more than 400 young athletes for their effort, perseverance, and commitment to sports.
During the ceremony, 412 medals were presented to a total of 40 teams participating in disciplines such as chess, athletics, basketball, handball, and futsal. Additionally, 60 individual athletes were recognized, with 36 from athletics and 24 from chess.
Mayor Carrasco emphasized the importance of supporting grassroots sports, noting that this commitment translates into continuous improvement of the city's sports facilities, a priority for her administration. She mentioned recent actions such as the renovation of the Chencho football fields' turf and improvements at the Gaetà Huguet complex.
Carrasco highlighted that these games are a true school of values, promoting teamwork, respect, perseverance, and the ability to overcome challenges. She also remarked that sports teach individuals how to handle both victories and defeats, fostering resilience.
The Mayor underscored Castellón's role as a city committed to sports, hosting over 200 sporting events annually, and stressed the significance of nurturing the formative base represented by the participating children.
The 46th edition of the Municipal Sports Games commenced last October with the cross-country event, followed by chess competitions in November and subsequently team sports. The calendar extended until May, solidifying the program as a key reference for grassroots sports in the city.
In addition to the mentioned disciplines, the Games also incorporated other sports such as artistic gymnastics and traditional games, as well as judo and jiu-jitsu sessions for school-aged children, organized in collaboration with the Castelló Sports Board (Patronat d’Esports de Castelló).
