The city of Castelló is set for a historic Sunday for its sports scene, with two pivotal events. The basketball team Amics Castelló will play the second leg of their promotion play-off to the Primera FEB at 12:00 PM in the Pabellón Ciutat de Castelló. Later, at 6:30 PM, CD Castellón will compete at the SkyFi Castalia for a spot in the Primera División promotion play-off.
The municipal initiative includes banners, large posters, vinyls, and signage across the city to rally fan support. The campaign for CD Castellón runs under the slogan “¿Y si sí?” (What if yes?), while Amics del Bàsquet Castelló uses the slogan “Volveremos” (We will return).
CD Castellón will host SD Eibar in a match where they control their own destiny for a play-off place. The club has called for fan mobilization at 4:30 PM to welcome the team and create a special atmosphere around the stadium. Meanwhile, Amics Castelló faces Albacete Baloncesto in the return leg of their Primera FEB promotion play-off, needing to win by at least seven points to secure promotion.
The Councilor for Sports, Maica Hurtado, highlighted the significance of these matches for the city, emphasizing the City Council's commitment to bolstering fan support. “We want our teams to feel their city close by, for Castelló to believe in them, and for the fans to be the sixth player in the pavilion and the twelfth player in the stadium,” she stated.
The General Director of CD Castellón, Alberto González, urged a strong turnout from fans, saying, “We want a reception for the team so that the players feel accompanied by the entire city.” The President of Club Amics del Bàsquet Castelló, Javier Fortuño, also appealed for city-wide support, remarking, “With the backing of Castelló and the whole city, we can try this on Sunday.”
The municipal campaign also involves distributing 200 posters in local shops to encourage citizens to attend the pavilion and stadium. The goal is for Castelló to fully support its two main clubs on a day that could shape their sporting future.
