Carles Santos's career marked a before and after in the understanding of music and performing arts. A pianist, composer, and unclassifiable creator, Santos developed a profoundly experimental body of work that broke the boundaries between disciplines, integrating music, body, image, and action into a unique, radical, and free language.

The city of Castelló will transform into a large moving stage next Saturday, April 18, with the celebration of Rierada Musical, a participatory urban sound itinerary that pays tribute to Carles Santos, a key figure in contemporary Valencian creation.
This activity proposes an open experience inviting all citizens to actively participate, joining an artistic procession that will depart at 7:00 PM from the Espai d'Art Contemporani de Castelló (EACC). From this meeting point, the public can freely join the route and accompany the unfolding of sound, choreographic, and performative actions throughout the urban center, until reaching the Sala Sant Miquel.
Far from a conventional scenic format, the Rierada Musical is conceived as a collective and participatory action, where the public is not a mere spectator, but an essential part of the artistic device. Walking, listening, stopping, and traversing the city alongside the artists becomes a way to experience contemporary creation from within, activating public space as a place of encounter, exchange, and symbolic production.
Inspired by this spirit, the Rierada Musical reactivates his creative universe through a route that will cross emblematic spaces of the city such as Plaza Borrull, Plaza Hernán Cortés, Calle Campoamor, Calle Mayor, or the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. At each of these points, interventions will be deployed that reinterpret fragments, gestures, and imaginaries present in his work.
The proposal also stands out for the collaboration between two fundamental institutions of contemporary creation in Castelló: the Espai d'Art Contemporani de Castelló (EACC) and the Sala Sant Miquel, with the collaboration of the Fundació Caixa Vinaròs. This alliance not only articulates the physical route of the project but also symbolizes a model of joint work that connects production, experimentation, mediation, and exhibition.
The Rierada Musical brings together a wide constellation of artists and collectives, reflecting the diversity and vitality of the current creative context. Participants include percussionist Jesús Gallardo, choreographer Lorenza Di Calogero, pianist Víctor Trescolí Sanz, and performer Bartolomé Ferrando. They are joined by the action art group from the Universitat Politècnica de València, the Societat Musical La Alianza de Vinaròs, and participants from the dance workshop of the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, forming a collective device that integrates different generations, disciplines, and forms of relationship with art.
