The Algemesí City Council has approved its first Protocol for the Care of Individuals with Severe Mental Health Problems, a key tool to unify criteria and enhance professional response.

This protocol establishes and standardizes the action criteria for municipal Social Services professionals. The aim is to provide a more coordinated, effective, and tailored response to the needs of both users and their families.
The initiative seeks to define and harmonize actions for the psychosocial recovery and rehabilitation of individuals facing mental health challenges, offering specific technical support for daily life activities.
Key lines of action include early detection and referral of potential cases, crisis prevention, fostering links with social and health services, home care, and personalized support. It also promotes community inclusion and access to social, educational, occupational, and leisure resources.
The protocol also includes measures for families and caregivers, providing training, guidance, and support to prevent burnout and ensure adequate care. Coordination with health services and inter-service transitions will be strengthened.
Furthermore, awareness-raising activities are planned for the general population and students in municipal educational centers, through talks, workshops, and community projects focused on mental health and suicide prevention.
