The incident occurred at 4:00 PM and affected a main 132 kV high-voltage line, one of the primary arteries for electricity transport serving both towns. The Requena City Council has confirmed that work is already underway to restore service in conjunction with the utility company.
A total of 32,000 residents in the region are without electricity supply. According to the Requena council, through an official statement disseminated on its social networks, the origin of the problem is the impact of a truck against an electrical infrastructure. In addition to the massive power outage, mobile lines have also been affected by this incident.
City council sources have also confirmed that efforts are being made to supply generator sets to health centers. The magnitude of the damage to the high-voltage line is the direct cause of the cessation of supply. Furthermore, the secondary line supplying these localities is undergoing maintenance, which has prevented the supply of electricity to the towns.
“"We will communicate any updates to the public through official channels."
According to technical estimates provided by the electricity company, service is expected to be restored within approximately three hours, although this time is subject to the progress of repair work at the accident site. The Requena City Council has assured that they maintain permanent contact with technical managers to monitor the situation step by step.
The public is advised to avoid using elevators and to keep refrigerators and freezers closed to preserve internal temperature until the supply returns to normal.
