The Onda City Council continues its commitment to revitalizing the city's cultural life with the opening of this new hall. The exhibition has been installed in the old chamber or attic on the third floor of the building and is arranged chronologically to facilitate understanding.
Visitors will be able to contemplate around thirty paintings illustrating Safont's artistic evolution, from 1950 to 1995. This careful selection brings together masterpieces that allow a first-hand look at the artist's creative process and work.
“"This new space reflects the Onda City Council's desire to continue strengthening our city's cultural heritage and to highlight our most illustrious creators, offering a dignified space befitting their legacy. It allows residents and visitors to get closer to a fundamental part of Onda's artistic and industrial identity."
Manolo Safont (Onda 1928-2005) is considered one of the most outstanding plastic artists in his field within the Spanish art scene of the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition offers a fascinating visual journey, from his first abstract works in 1959, through works with social references against war and inequality (between 1968 and 1975), to his later production demonstrating a clear mastery of the material.
The exhibition allows for an understanding of Safont's contribution to artistic development linked to Onda's ceramic tradition and its projection beyond the local sphere. To visit this new cultural space, interested parties can go to the headquarters of the Gorriz-Beltrán Foundation at Casa de Dalt, located on Santa Isabel Street number 23 in Onda.
