Villarreal Women's Team Secures Play-off Spot for Promotion to First Division

Villarreal Women's team has achieved a valuable goalless draw at Cacereño's ground, thus securing their participation in the promotion play-offs to the First Division, two years after being relegated.

Jordi Ferrios's squad earned a crucial point in Extremadura, which will allow them to fight for promotion. This matchday has been decisive for the category, as Alavés has achieved direct promotion, while Valencia Féminas and Villarreal have secured their play-off spots.
Now, the yellow team will have to defend third place in the table (excluding reserve teams), a fact that would grant them home-field advantage in the promotion play-off semifinals.
The women's football competition now faces another break, with the league not resuming until the weekend of May 25-26. This twenty-day pause comes at a key moment, with only two matchdays remaining in the regular season.
The match against Cacereño, a rival fighting for permanence in Primera Federación, was not easy at all. During the first half, Villarreal dominated the game, but after the break, the ball frequently hovered around the area defended by Montse Quesada.
After the break, Villarreal Women's team will face Alba FF on May 25 or 26, and will close the regular season against Real Madrid B on April 2 or 3.
