The French-Congolese player reappeared in a match against Levante, marking the end of a long recovery period. The injury, a hamstring tear in his left leg, occurred on July 31 last year during a preseason triangular tournament in Oviedo.
After undergoing surgery, the defender was sidelined for over eight months. His entry in the 81st minute of the match, with a 3-1 lead for Villarreal CF, was a highly anticipated moment for him and the fans.
“"I am very happy to have been able to play again. I had been training at full capacity since February, and now I feel very good to compete."
The footballer arrived at Villarreal CF in the summer of 2024 from Manchester United, following a payment of approximately 10 million euros. In his first season with the Yellow Submarine, he played 19 matches.
The player also wanted to express gratitude for the support received during his recovery. He highlighted the importance of team unity in achieving set objectives, such as qualifying for the Champions League.
“"We have shown that by being united, both in play and mentality, we are one of the best teams in Spain."
