The sixth edition of Vilaciència in Vila-real, taking place from April 23 to 25, is enhancing its international projection with the participation of 140 students and 50 selected projects, solidifying its goal of fostering scientific vocations.
The initiative, promoted by Santa María School and the Vila-real City Council, reaches its sixth Science Fair and fourth competition. The event aims to promote scientific vocations among young people, with high participation demonstrating the constant growth of the fair.
In total, the competition will feature 140 students (60 boys and 80 girls) and 50 projects, selected from 70 submissions. These figures reflect the event's consolidation, which also strengthens its international dimension with the presence of centers from countries such as Turkey, Portugal, and Brazil, alongside projects from across Spain.
The fair will be open to the general public and is expected to receive nearly 1,000 students from educational centers in Vila-real and the surrounding region, as well as students from other institutions. Over three days, the venue will host stands with workshops and exhibitions on robotics, drones, technology, and photography, as well as presentations of scientific projects by participating students.
Santa María School has highlighted the project's trajectory since its inception in the 2018-2019 academic year. A school spokesperson noted that Vilaciència has evolved year after year, adapting and growing without losing its essence: to awaken scientific curiosity and offer students a real space for research and learning.
The competition is structured into three modalities: health and environmental sciences, pure sciences, and technology. It will feature a jury composed of more than 20 professionals from various fields. Additionally, 10,000 euros in prizes will be awarded, including scholarships to participate in other national and international competitions, as well as special awards linked to innovation in the ceramic and scientific fields.
