The event, organized by the Vila-real City Council and Santa María School at the Congress, Fair and Meeting Center, brings together 140 students with 55 projects selected from 70 submissions, from April 23 to April 25.
The inauguration was attended by municipal representatives and collaborating entities. The opening also included an address by the director of Santa María School, who welcomed attendees in several languages, thus highlighting the international nature of the gathering.
“"Make science great again."
The inaugural conference was given by a science communicator, biologist, and zoologist, who focused his presentation on the adaptation of living beings using three species: an alligator snapping turtle (Macrochelys temminckii), a snake (Lampropeltis pyromelana), and an axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum). The speaker invited attendees to reflect on the importance of adapting to the environment in educational, professional, and personal spheres.
This year's edition marks the 6th science fair and the 4th competition, aiming to continue fostering scientific vocations among young people. Participation data also reflect the consolidation of the event, with 60 boys and 80 girls among the selected students. Vilaciència also expands its international dimension with the presence of centers from countries such as Turkey, Portugal, and Brazil. In addition, there are 13 projects from other autonomous communities, as well as 16 centers from the Valencian Community and 14 from Vila-real.
The fair remains open to the general public and will also receive visits from nearly 1,000 students from educational centers in Vila-real, the region, and other institutions. For three days, the venue hosts stands with workshops and exhibitions on robotics, drones, technology, or photography, in addition to the presentation of scientific works developed by participating students.
“"The constant growth of Vilaciència in both participation and project quality."
The competition is divided into three categories: health sciences and environment, pure sciences, and technology. Furthermore, it features a jury composed of over 20 professionals and will award 10,000 euros in prizes, including scholarships to participate in other national and international competitions. With this new edition, Vila-real reinforces its commitment to education, innovation, and the promotion of young talent, while consolidating Vilaciència as an international meeting point for science and knowledge.
